Experience & Qualifications

Bill Surman is a Partner with CDI Global North America in the Chicago office.

He has broad experience across the securities industry, including mergers and acquisitions. He has worked with debt & equity capital formation, trading, capital markets and information technology systems. Bill holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. degree in Economics from Carleton College. Bill is a Registered Principal with SF Investments, Inc. and holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 securities registrations.

Bill has worked as an investment banker for Sucsy, Fischer and Company focusing on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions for the last nine years. His clients, ranging in size from middle-market to earlier stage, have been across a wide range of industries including, consumer products, medical devices, business process outsourcing, building products and specialized manufacturing. Bill worked for eight years as Managing Director at Rock Island Securities, the second largest specialist trading firm on the Chicago Stock Exchange where he managed 12 roll-up acquisitions, designed automated trading and risk management systems and managed the client broker/dealer relationships. Previously he was the Chief Financial Officer of Andover Securities Corporation and the President of Redwood Trading. Earlier in his career he was the director of Marketing for the Chicago Stock Exchange and was the Chief Financial Officer of Transaction Services, Inc., a wholesale stock and option broker.
